LOS ANGELES, Nov. 2, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Senator Ossoff’s recent introduction of the Solar Energy Manufacturing for America Act has solar companies thrilled nationwide. The legislation is co-sponsored by three other Senators; Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) and Michael Bennet (D-CO).

Green Home Systems recently voiced their enthusiasm with the Managing Director of GHS Robbie Hebert stating, “This is a win not only for the solar industry but for solar consumers, the economy and most importantly, the future of the environment. Solar is certainly the future, and we are thrilled that some of our nation’s leaders are taking leaps and making strides in a green direction.”

What is the Solar Energy Manufacturing for America Act?

According to Senator Ossoff’s website, “The Solar Energy Manufacturing for America Act would provide tax credits for American manufacturers at every stage of the solar manufacturing supply chain, from production of polysilicon to solar cells to fully assembled solar modules.”

Some analysis experts, specifically the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), expect this legislation to boost the economy by creating tens of thousands of jobs across the U.S.

This tax credit will work alongside existing solar incentives to help accelerate solar production in the U.S. further distancing us from China’s stronghold on the industry.

Senator Ossoff stated, “I’m working to boost American solar manufacturing and accelerate the transition to clean energy…This bill will create tens of thousands of American jobs, support American energy independence, and accelerate the transition from fossil fuels to clean energy.”

While the legislation overall would prove to be a positive for Georgia, there are possible obstacles that get it the way of the legislation being a success unless addressed. Obstacles like HOA rules could hinder some Georgia residents from being able to install solar panels. Many HOAs in Georgia continue to ban solar panels regardless of guidelines put in place to prevent this from happening like the Solar Power Free-Market Financing Act of 2015. For the legislation to be successful, Ossoff will need to take a proactive approach and combat the challenge of HOAs head-on.

The incentive, if passed, will be available through 2028 and will take two years to go into complete effect.

What does this mean for Green Home Systems?

GHS, along with solar companies across the country will be able to thrive from this incentive by hiring more American workers and further withdrawing from China.

GHS has a long history of using American-made products including the panels and inverters themselves. They were the only solar company to stand up in Washington D.C. and vouch for the solar tariffs to help boost American solar companies and distance the U.S. from our reliance on Chinese-made products. As GHS is already a heavily American-based company, they are eager to see other companies follow-suit.

“What’s good for American Solar is good for us,” says Robbie Hebert. “We are so pleased to see innovative political leaders taking a stand for the American solar industry, and we can’t wait to see the solar boom this will create in our country. Hopefully Senators in other states will take note.”
