Seven of Worcestershire’s best luxury spas – Birmingham Live

Worcestershire’s lush countryside is overflowing with luxury spas with its natural springs and historic links to bathing in Droitwich Spa and Malvern in the Victorian era.

From spa days at country manors in The Cotswolds to wellbeing retreats that border Birmingham and the Black Country, here are all the luxury spas in the region.

Featuring an indoor and outdoor hydrotherapy pool that can be used all-year round, this luxury spa is at the heart of Malvern and its famous natural springs.

Along with a dip in the pool, guess can enjoy a salt grotto, crystal steam room, herb sauna and kelo sauna made from naturally fragrant wood found only in the Arctic Circle.

There’s also a stylish grand lounge to relax in, away from the swimming pool, while treatments use Elemis products and include hot stone massages, .

The spa has got a four out of five star rating on Tripadvisor with guests praising the hydrotherapy pool and commenting: “The massages were first class. The menu didn’t sound ultra healthy or imaginative but it was absolutely delicious.”

The Greenhouse Spa at The Elms in Abberley

Feel at one with nature in this spa that uses plants and wood as decor to bring holistic qualities to wellbeing.

The Greenhouse Spa is an extension to the grandeur of The Elms country house hotel in Abberley, between Kidderminster and Worcester, with its historic listed building and manicured lawns.

Steam Rooms have a eucalyptus scent while there is also a pool, sauna and Experience Shower that helps circulation and tones the body.

With a four star rating on TripAdvisor, guests rave about the spa and hotel with comments like “Wow wow wow!! This was an amazing hotel” and “a fantastic dog friendly hotel. The gym is well equipped and the pool is a great place to relax.”.

Dormy House on Farncombe Estate

Described as ‘farmhouse chic in the Cotswolds’, this luxurious spa hotel nestles on a remote hill in the Worcestershire Cotswolds near Broadway.

There’s stunning views along with first rate spa facilities that include a terrace hot tub, and Scandi-style thermal suite. It also has special Therapeutic Touch treatment with staff trained by Beata Aleksandrowicz and Wellness for Cancer.

In the colder months, Dormy House has plenty of cosy corners, log fires and plump chairs to curl up in and relax along with fine food. It has impressed visitors who gave it four and a half stars on Tripadvisor.

The Abbey Spa in Redditch

Part of Redditch’s 4 star Abbey Hotel, this spa has a 15m pool with a hot tub, steam room and sauna in modern surroundings.

The gym has been recently refurbished to feature latest Matrix equipment with virtual active software that takes guests to exotic worldwide locations while they exercise.

Pampering treatments use ESPA and Dermalogica products that have helped the spa gain a four star rating on Tripadvisor. Guests are particularly impressed with the masseurs at the spa and friendliness of the staff.

One commented: “Absolutely wonderful staff and we felt so at home from the minute we arrived. They made us feel special and cared about.”

Set within historic honey coloured walls of the Cotswolds, this spa in Broadway focuses on creating a tranquil atmosphere.

Lounge by the 14m swimming pool between breaks in the sauna, steam room and hot tub and on sunnier days, enjoy its retractable roof.

Treatment rooms are upstairs the building that has an art deco feel. It’s got a four star rating on Tripadvisor with guests commenting on how lovely the swimming pool and changing rooms are.

Lunch can be taken on the sun terrace or at the historic main hotel next door that is a haunt for the rich and famous including Hugh Grant and Amanda Holden.

The Clover Mill in Great Malvern

The Clover Mill is a slightly different spa escape as it is the UK’s first boutique Ayurvedic spa retreat that has earned it a top five star rating on Tripadvisor.

There is a focus on health and yoga in lavish and innovative eco-accommodation. Along with spa facilities, guests get individualised treatments, can enjoy yoga classes and workshops while the food is based on the ancient art and science of Ayurveda.

Set around a stunning converted mill, the spa is in the remote Malvern beauty spot with decks that have lake views and heating that flows underground from the wood pellet fed biomass boiler. There’s even healthy alkaline drinking water that comes direct from the mill spring.

A guest called it a “magical place”, adding it was “a wonderfully restful, luxurious (yet unpretentious!) place to stay whilst your body and soul are nurtured and rejuvenated through food, yoga and Ayurvedic treatments”.

Billesley Manor Hotel and Spa near Alcester

Right on the Worcestershire/ Warwickshire border is this glamorous spa hotel where William Shakespeare wrote As You Like It while looking out at the beautiful countryside.

The spa is attached to this stunning historic country house and features a large 25m indoor swimming pool with steam and sauna rooms alongside a gym and outdoor yoga hut.

There’s plenty of treatments to choose from that use Decléor products. While you can enjoy lunch on the outdoor terrace that overlooks 125-year-old topiary shaped like Alice in Wonderland characters. It’s got a four and a half stars rating on Tripadvisor.
